- On April 3, 2002, around 11 pm, a woman named Matney was last seen at her home in Ottawa, Illinois, by her boyfriend. She disappeared and has never been found. Her boyfriend reported her missing a few days later.
Matney had problems with drug use and depression. She never collected her last Social Security check, suggesting she didn’t leave town. Her boyfriend at the time was a registered sex offender, but police haven’t said he’s responsible for her disappearance. He died in 2004.
Matney was from Sacramento, California, and had traveled a lot before settling in Ottawa. She still had her California ID. The case is still a mystery.
