- Details of Disappearance:
- On August 14, 2002, Lieutenant Henderson went fishing off the coast of Hawaii’s Big Island. His wife saw him leave at 10:00 a.m. He was using a small, colorful (blue, green, and yellow) 12-foot raft with a small Honda motor. The words “Angel Pudding” were written on the raft. He had fishing gear, water, and other supplies with him.
Other fishermen saw him on the water around 6:00 p.m., but that was the last anyone saw of him. When he didn’t return by 10:00 p.m., his family reported him missing. The Coast Guard searched, but found nothing – neither Henderson nor his raft. There were strong currents that day.
Henderson was a former Army Special Forces soldier and a recent University of Hawaii graduate. He left behind two children. His wife has remarried. It’s believed he was lost at sea.
