Jayne had a complicated relationship with her husband, Steven. They separated in 1991, and Steven was later convicted of sexually assaulting Jayne at gunpoint. He was in prison when Jayne disappeared.

Despite the assault, Jayne still allowed Steven’s family to see their son. On the day she vanished, Jayne asked someone to tell Steven’s brother, John, to pick her up for the trip to Brenham. John denied seeing or speaking to Jayne that day.

Jayne’s car was broken, so she relied on others for rides. The last person known to have spoken to her was Amy’s office manager. A check from Jayne’s mother for $200, intended to help with travel expenses, was never cashed.

Jayne’s family believes she wouldn’t abandon her son. Amy, Steven’s mother, raised the boy and later told him Jayne left because she “needed a break.”

Police suspect Jayne was murdered and possibly buried on Amy’s property in Brenham. However, they couldn’t search the property because Amy had transferred ownership to Steven and John, who refused access. The Davis family claims Jayne left voluntarily, but they have offered no evidence to support this.

The case remains unsolved, with both Houston and Brenham police investigating.
