- Details of Disappearance:
- In April 1992, Shirley Moore, the former honorary mayor of Apple Valley, California, vanished. Her fiancé, Al Henderson, claimed they’d been in Laughlin, Nevada, gambling for three days. He said they’d planned to leave on April 9th, but Moore won $600 and wanted to play more, so they stayed an extra day. Henderson gambled at a different casino, the Colorado Belle. He said he left his car in valet, searched for Moore at the Flamingo Hilton, couldn’t find her, gambled some more, and searched again without success.
However, security footage showed Henderson alone at the valet, and Moore wasn’t seen on any casino cameras that day. Confusingly, a witness saw Moore and Henderson in Apple Valley on April 8th, the day before she supposedly won the money in Laughlin – a 150-mile drive away. Henderson’s hotel records show he checked into the Colorado Belle on April 6th and booked a room for three nights, but no meals were delivered to his room on the day Moore disappeared.
Police suspect Moore may have never made it to Laughlin. Bloodstained tissues were found in Henderson’s motor home after Moore disappeared, making him a prime suspect, though he died in 2001 without being charged. The case remains unsolved.
