- Gelb disappeared on August 16, 2001. He showed up unexpectedly at his parents’ house in Brookline, Massachusetts, around 5:00 a.m. He stayed the night, but vanished the next morning. Nobody has seen or heard from him since.
We don’t know much about what happened. Gelb was smart; he had a master’s degree in computer science and worked for IBM. However, he had a mental breakdown in his 30s and might have had schizophrenia, but he wouldn’t get help for it. He may be living on the streets now.
