- Details of Disappearance:
- In February 2007, a man named Blevins vanished in Ashe County, North Carolina. Two years later, his uncle, William Hammer, admitted to killing him and another man (murdered in 2005). Hammer was already in prison for killing three people in 2008 (he’s serving seven life sentences for that). He’d also been convicted of killing a police officer in 1978, but was later cleared in a new trial.
Hammer told police where to find Blevins’ body in exchange for a move to a prison nearer his home and a $15,000 reward Blevins’ family offered. Blevins’ remains were found buried on land where Hammer had once worked.
