- In 1973, a woman named Burmer vanished in Nevada City, California while hiking in the snow. A piece of a skull was found nearby in 1993, but it wasn’t until 2019 that DNA testing confirmed it was hers. That means it took 26 years to identify the skull and 46 years since she disappeared. Sadly, the rest of her remains have never been found.
