- Details of Disappearance:
- Otto disappeared on November 20, 1992, after going to a party. Her roommate left early because she was sick, but Otto stayed. A friend, James Earl Gibson, gave Otto a ride home. Gibson said he dropped her off at her apartment, but she never arrived.
While Otto sometimes disappeared for a few days, she always called her family. They got worried when she didn’t contact them for Thanksgiving, and reported her missing on December 8th.
Gibson was later convicted of kidnapping and raping another young woman in 1994. Police think he might be a serial killer, but he’s never been charged with Otto’s disappearance. He was released from prison in July 2019 after serving 35 years.
Otto was a trusting person who liked to go to parties. Because she’s never been found and because of Gibson’s history, police believe something bad happened to her.
