- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Podniestrzanski’s street name is Johnny Pod. He has a scar on the inside of his right forearm, and he had a mustache and collar-length hair at the time of his disappearance.
- Details of Disappearance:
- John Podniestrzanski vanished from Clearwater, Florida sometime in March 1995. He didn’t have a fixed address, bouncing between friends’ and girlfriends’ places. His last known address was a mobile home park on Clearwater-Largo Road. He worked odd jobs as a mechanic and repo man.
He was supposed to go to trial in April 1995 for driving without a license and dealing in stolen car parts. When he skipped court, police wanted him arrested. However, nobody reported him missing until May 1997 – two years later!
His family believes he was murdered. Police agree; they don’t think he ran away to avoid the trial.
Podniestrzanski originally came from New Jersey, moving to Florida in 1981. Some family still lives in Clearwater. He had a criminal record (including assault, stealing cars, and other offences), and police think this might be connected to his disappearance, which remains a mystery.
