- John and his little sister Giannina vanished one day when they were supposed to go to the beach with a family friend and his kids. They never showed up and were never seen again. Police think they were kidnapped for a $72,000 ransom. Eight months later, a man named Thomas Rodriguez killed himself in Florida and left a note confessing to being involved. Even with the confession, no one else was ever arrested. John and Giannina’s dad is dead, but their mom is still alive (she has cancer) and legally declared them dead in 2012.
