Details of Disappearance:
John and his best friend, James, vanished on October 15, 1964. They were seen walking home from a restaurant in Cincinnati, Ohio, at 4:00 p.m., and reported missing later that night. Both were nine-year-old third graders who were always together.

John had told friends he might run away, so police initially thought they’d hopped on a train. This idea was dropped when they weren’t found.

A young girl’s murder in the same town two months earlier led to speculation about a connection, but police found none.

Three years later, a man confessed to killing the boys, but then took it back, claiming he lied to avoid military service. He passed a lie detector test and insists he’s innocent.

There’s very little evidence, and police believe the boys’ bodies are likely buried somewhere near their homes in Fairfax, Ohio.
