Details of Disappearance:
On December 10, 1967, a man named Lake disappeared in New York City. He was last seen walking toward a subway station in Midtown Manhattan after having dinner and drinks with a friend. He’d been at her apartment on East 54th Street, but she wouldn’t let him stay.

Lake worked as a sports editor for Newsweek. His coworkers thought he might have left on his own; he was unhappy at work, had drinking problems, and was struggling financially after a divorce. They believed he was depressed but not planning to kill himself.

The police and a private detective agency (Pinkerton) investigated, but Lake was never found. His family didn’t report him missing for four days. He was declared legally dead seven years later, but the case is still unsolved. His son is still looking for him.

Lake was a smart guy – he graduated from Syracuse University with honors. He liked cigars, books, plays, music (folk and country), and sports. He wasn’t interested in fancy things, so if he’s still alive, he might be living a simple life.
