His belongings – wallet, keys, and cigarettes – were on his bed, which wasn’t slept in. His shoes were by the garage door, and a small window in his basement apartment was open, even though it was cold outside. The window screen was pushed out from the inside.

Because the backyard had motion-sensor lights, his parents think he climbed out the window to avoid setting them off. His phone died around 2:00 a.m., and police think it’s been destroyed. He had no money or credit cards on him.

Lima worked construction. He’d had problems with drugs and the law in the past, but his family says he’d turned his life around and was happy. They believe something bad happened to him, and the police haven’t ruled out foul play. The case is still unsolved, and Middleton police are investigating.
