Details of Disappearance:: Wipert disappeared in mid-June 2009 from his job as a caretaker at a remote Alaskan lodge near the Canadian border. He was protecting the lodge from bears. His boss found the lodge empty in early July; doors were damaged, food was spoiled, and two of the lodge’s horses were gone with him. Wipert left a note saying he’d be back, but it was a lie – there’s no cabin nearby. He may have tried to ride to Beaver Creek, heading towards Canada, as he’d discussed with his boss, but he left behind his ID and clothes, suggesting he didn’t plan to be gone long. Despite a big search, he’s never been found, and police don’t suspect foul play. The mystery remains unsolved.
