- In May 2017, Reynoso and his girlfriend, Audrey Moran, vanished from Coachella, California. Two days later, their car was discovered abandoned on a highway.
Three years later, in June 2020, police arrested three people—Jesus Ruiz Jr., Abraham Fregoso, and Manuel Rios—for their murders. More arrests followed in July: Aaron Fernando Bernal, Eric Rios, and Adilene Ines Castaneda. It’s not known if Manuel and Eric Rios are related.
Manuel Rios is charged with killing both Reynoso and Moran. Fregoso is charged with killing one of them. Both Rios and Fregoso could face the death penalty because they’re accused of killing someone who might have been a witness to a crime.
The other suspects are accused of helping to hide the crime afterward.
Police think they’ve found the bodies of Reynoso and Moran in the Coachella Valley, but they’re waiting for DNA tests to be completely sure.
