- Details of Disappearance:
- On November 9, 2002, 21-year-old college student, David Guimond, disappeared from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He was last seen around 11 pm leaving a party in a dorm to use the bathroom. When he didn’t return, friends assumed he went back to his apartment, but he never arrived.
His car was left on campus, and his belongings (including glasses, contacts, and credit cards) were untouched in his apartment. He wasn’t dressed for cold weather. After his disappearance, files were erased from his computer, some of which involved making fake IDs.
Several theories exist:
* **Accident:** Police suspect he might have fallen into a lake and drowned, possibly after drinking alcohol. Searches haven’t found any evidence.
* **Hit and Run:** Another theory is that he was hit by a car. A less likely possibility involves a monk from the nearby abbey (due to some past alcohol issues at the Abbey) being involved in a cover-up, but there’s no evidence for this.
* **Other Possibilities:** His loved ones believe foul play was involved, while other possibilities, like suicide or running away, haven’t been supported by evidence.Around the same time, three other young adults disappeared in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Two were found dead in water, one was murdered. Police ruled out a connection between these cases and Guimond’s disappearance, despite the statistical improbability of so many similar disappearances in the same area.
David was a successful political science student, hoping to go to law school and eventually enter politics. He had recently broken up with his girlfriend but remained friends. His family lives in Maple Lake, Minnesota, and they still await answers. His case remains unsolved.
