Details of Disappearance:
On August 25, 2012, Ashley Mitchell was last seen in Wellborn, Florida. Earlier that morning, a man named Andrelo Larashard Witcher broke into her father’s house in Lake City, Florida. He threatened Mitchell and others with a weapon and stole her medication. Police issued a warrant for Witcher’s arrest, but he wasn’t caught. Mitchell disappeared later that day, along with her white 1992 Pontiac Grand Am.

While Mitchell sometimes disappeared for a few days when upset, she always contacted her family. Her family reported her missing on September 2nd. A week later, her car was found underwater on a flooded road in Suwannee County. Her phone and purse were inside.

Witcher was arrested in mid-September for other crimes: burglary, illegal gun possession, and violating sex offender registration rules. He was already suspected in the 2007 disappearance of his girlfriend, Heather MacCrossen. In 2018, he was convicted of manslaughter in MacCrossen’s death and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Police think he might also be responsible for Mitchell’s disappearance.

At the time she vanished, Mitchell had graduated from Branford High School, worked at a gas station, and was taking a break from Santa Fe College.
