Details of Disappearance:
On January 8, 1994, Katheryne disappeared from her home in Riviera Beach, Florida. Her mother, Frances Moya, left her in the care of her ex-boyfriend, Misbah Muhammad Kazi, who is not Katheryne’s father. When Moya returned home, Kazi said he’d sent Katheryne to Bangladesh to punish Moya for ending their troubled relationship and for past abortions. He wanted full custody of their unborn child as a condition for Katheryne’s return.

Kazi was tried for kidnapping but was found not guilty. He claimed Moya faked the kidnapping. However, he remained the prime suspect. After the trial, he harassed Moya, hinting at Katheryne’s location but never revealing it. He even boasted about “winning” the situation. While his father in Bangladesh was questioned, he offered no help. Moya also suspects Kazi’s sister (who was later deported) of involvement. This sister gave conflicting testimony during the trial, claiming she lied about seeing Katheryne with Kazi due to pressure from the FBI.

Kazi is currently in prison in California for attempted murder – he tried to kill his pregnant fiancée for a life insurance payout. Despite several offers from prosecutors, he refuses to cooperate in finding Katheryne, though he has claimed to have proof she’s alive.

Katheryne’s case is unsolved. Police believe she might still be alive in the United States, with family connections in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Bangladesh.
