Details of Disappearance:

Ten-year-old Kevin Collins disappeared on February 10, 1984, in San Francisco. He was last seen at a bus stop on Oak and Masonic, waiting for a ride home from basketball practice. A witness saw him talking to a tall, blond man with a large black dog (maybe a Great Dane).

There were some possible leads:

* **A car:** Someone reported seeing two men in a blue 1967 Ford Galaxie possibly involved, but this wasn’t confirmed.
* **Jon Dunkle:** A known child killer whose victims resembled Kevin. However, he was never charged.
* **Dan Leonard Therrien:** A man with a history of child sex crimes, who lived near Kevin’s school and matched the description of the man with the dog. Police searched his apartment but found nothing. He was later revealed to be a fugitive wanted for kidnapping and assaulting two boys, but he died in 2008 before he could be connected to Kevin’s case. A later search of his old apartment uncovered some bones, but they turned out to be animal bones.

Kevin was a happy child, the sixth of ten kids in his family. Police don’t think he ran away. His family held a memorial service for him in 1994. His father started a foundation to help find missing children, but it closed down. Sadly, Kevin’s disappearance remains a mystery.
