Details of Disappearance:
Kimberly Medina disappeared on October 29, 1996, in Aurora, Colorado. Her husband, Michael, said she went to a nearby convenience store and never returned. He waited two days to report her missing. While Michael claimed Kimberly might have left him for a coworker, her family said this was out of character. She left behind her last paycheck ($800+) and her purse.

A bloodhound followed her scent for a while, but the trail ended near a highway. Years later, there were unconfirmed reports of possible remains found in a rural area.

Michael and Kimberly had a troubled relationship. He was arrested twice for domestic violence before her disappearance; once in Arizona, where Kimberly got a restraining order, and again in New Mexico. Kimberly told her father she was leaving Michael just days before she vanished.

In 1998, a farmer reported a possible gravesite and a maroon truck leaving the scene—Michael owned a similar truck. The search yielded nothing.

In 2005, Michael was arrested for murdering his sixteen-month-old son, Degan. His second wife, Becky, testified that Michael confessed to killing Kimberly, saying he beat her and buried her. He then drowned Degan. Michael was convicted of child abuse and Degan’s death but maintained it was accidental.

Despite no new physical evidence, Michael was indicted and later convicted of Kimberly’s murder in 2013, partly due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the confession to Becky. There’s been no activity on Kimberly’s accounts since she vanished, strongly suggesting foul play.
