Details of Disappearance:
Kimora disappeared in Flint, Michigan, around May 2015. Nobody noticed for a year and a half, during which her parents wrongly collected welfare checks meant for her.

Things changed in November 2016 when a teacher reported suspected abuse of Kimora’s younger brother. Social workers investigating found Kimora missing. Her mother claimed she was with her father in Detroit, but this was a lie. The investigation revealed Kimora’s family hadn’t seen her for over a year, and her parents gave conflicting stories.

Kimora’s parents, Erika and Khairy, were arrested and charged with murder, child abuse, and lying to the police. In 2018, they pleaded guilty or no contest to second-degree murder. They confessed to beating Kimora to death after an accident, hiding her body in a trash bag, and burying it near their apartment. Her body was never found; police believe animals may have moved it.

Erika and Khairy were sentenced to lengthy prison terms. Kimora’s brothers were taken into protective custody and are being adopted by their foster family.
