- Franklin disappeared on September 23, 2003. He was last seen in Grand Portage, Minnesota, leaving the Grand Portage Lodge to drive to Cloquet, Minnesota. He never reached Cloquet, and his family never heard from him again. He’d mentioned going hiking before he left. His car was found later, empty, in Jay Cooke State Park. Not much is known about what happened to him.
