Details of Disappearance:
Moncer disappeared on February 18, 1982, from his home in Bellaire, Ohio. His abandoned car was found two days later, stuck in a ditch. The car was muddy, the door was open, and it looked like there had been a fight inside. Strangely, he left behind his cigarettes, something he usually didn’t do.

Before he vanished, Moncer received a threatening note (“Leave It Alone, Or You Are Dead”) cut from a magazine. He ignored it.

Moncer had a troubled life: he worked three jobs, was getting divorced from his wife, Irene, had an affair, drank heavily, and was abusive to both his wife and girlfriend. He was also very controlling, not letting Irene or their daughter leave the house without him.

After he disappeared, there were reports of sightings of a man who might have been Moncer. Irene said someone followed them for months, and a man hid near their house for two years. She also got anonymous calls, one claiming Moncer was dead and his body cut up. This wasn’t proven.

Moncer was declared legally dead in 1988. His police file was lost but found later, leading to the case being reopened in 2007. The mystery of what happened to him remains unsolved.
