- Details of Disappearance:
- On April 15, 2009, Lopez disappeared from Polvadera, New Mexico. She’d been drinking with her boyfriend and a friend at her home. After an argument, Lopez left. Her boyfriend and his friend went to get more beer. The boyfriend saw Lopez walking near a ditch, talking on her phone. When they returned, she was gone.
No one has heard from her since. Her boyfriend initially thought she went to visit her daughter in Albuquerque, but that wasn’t true. He found one of her shoes by the ditch and called the police. A big search of the ditch found nothing—no Lopez, no body, no signs of a fall. Police did find her other shoe, and changed the direction of their investigation.
Even though she’d given up custody of most of her children, she stayed in touch with them. The police are still investigating, but they aren’t sure what happened to her. Her disappearance remains a mystery.
