- In June 1974, Susan Lovell and her friend Stephen Packard disappeared. They were hitchhiking along the California coast, heading to Seattle for the World’s Fair and then back to their hometown of Missoula, Montana.
The last anyone heard from them was June 10th, when Packard called his family from Stinson Beach, California. A traveler’s check of Packard’s was cashed in Westport, California (a few hours north) on June 20th. After that, they vanished.
Police in Santa Maria, California are still trying to figure out what happened, but the case remains unsolved.
