- Details of Disappearance:
- On September 4, 2003, 40-year-old Sherri Shuttleworth disappeared from Aiken, South Carolina. She spoke to her daughter at 7:00 a.m. that morning. Around 8:00 a.m., someone saw her at a convenience store, reading in her car (a borrowed blue-green Pontiac Grand Am). At 10:00 a.m., she called a friend, saying she expected a guest. She never picked up her son from the bus stop that afternoon, and all calls to her went unanswered after 10:00 a.m.
Her daughter went to her mother’s house that evening and found it locked, the car still there, and tea on the stove that had been taken off the burner. Sherri’s purse was missing, but her ID and Social Security card were left behind.
Sherri was a single mom, recently unemployed, and had worked in office jobs. Her family believes she was abducted, and police suspect foul play. It’s completely out of character for her to leave her children without explanation. The case remains unsolved.
