Details of Disappearance:
On December 23, 1974, Lisa, her friend Rachel, and Rachel’s friend Julie went Christmas shopping at a mall in Fort Worth, Texas. Lisa’s boyfriend had given her a promise ring that morning, and she was supposed to be home by 4 pm for a party with him.

The girls went to an Army/Navy store first, then to the mall. Witnesses saw them there, but after a while, they vanished. Their car was found locked in the mall parking lot, with their presents still inside.

Several confusing things happened:

* **Conflicting Witness Accounts:** Some people said they saw the girls forced into a truck or van. These accounts are unconfirmed.
* **A Mysterious Letter:** A letter claimed the girls went to Houston and would be back soon. It was never proven who sent it.
* **Failed Investigations:** The police initially thought the girls ran away, but their families didn’t believe that. A private investigator hired by the families later died by suicide, and his records were lost. Another investigator believes Rachel is still alive, but hidden, while Lisa and Julie are dead – but he hasn’t shared his evidence.
* **A Late Witness:** Years later, a witness claimed he saw the girls in a security guard’s truck, seemingly willingly, late that night. The guard denied this.

The police are still investigating, focusing on five suspects and using DNA technology. They now believe the girls left with someone they knew and trusted, and something terrible happened afterward. The case remains unsolved, and Lisa’s family still lives near where she disappeared. Lisa’s mother believes all three girls are dead.
