Details of Disappearance:
Michael Schiendelman vanished from Tumwater, Washington on May 19, 2016, and has never been found.

Before his disappearance:

* He was a quiet, sensitive young man who played football in high school.
* He went to Washington State University but dropped out after his first year and returned home.
* He lived with his grandmother and half-sister and worked several jobs.
* He seemed withdrawn after college and distanced himself from old friends.
* He reconnected with his father’s side of the family shortly before disappearing, but kept it secret from his grandmother.
* He was smoking a lot of marijuana and had tension with his half-sister’s boyfriend, who moved in with the family. The boyfriend was questioned and passed a lie detector test.
* On the morning of May 19th, he seemed nervous and told his grandmother he’d had a personal revelation to work through. This was the last time they spoke.

What happened next:

* His grandmother tracked his phone to Olympia the next day, but his mother hadn’t seen him.
* Phone records showed his car moving erratically along Interstate 5.
* A witness saw him with two men by his car on I-5 near Exit 95 on the morning of May 20th. The car was later found abandoned, with the hood up. A sketch of one of the men exists.
* Later that day, his car was reported swerving across I-5 and crashing. A man was seen running from the car into the woods – this man did *not* match Schiendelman’s description.
* His car, a black 1996 Chrysler Sebring convertible (license plate AVJ8434), was found with all his belongings inside.
* A large search found no trace of him.
* A week later, someone accessed his Facebook account from the Olympia airport.

The Mystery:

* His disappearance is out of character.
* Police investigated but found no evidence of foul play, but also no evidence he’s still alive.
* Police suspect he may have had mental health issues.
* The case remains unsolved.
