- On July 21, 1999, a woman named Kirkley vanished from her home in Valparaiso, Indiana. Police think she came home and found David Malinski robbing her house. Malinski kidnapped her. The police found strong evidence (photos) linking him to the crime, and he was found guilty of her murder in February 2000. Even after his conviction, Malinski claimed Kirkley was still alive. But in 2005, he changed his mind after becoming religious. He then showed police where he’d buried Kirkley’s body – on his father’s land. She had been strangled.
