- On February 24, 1981, Gebhard disappeared from her home in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood (44th Avenue). She and her husband argued about the phone bill at 4:15 p.m. Police were called, and an officer suggested they take a walk to cool off. Gebhard went for a walk and never came back. Her husband reported her missing at 11:00 p.m. that night. She took her own medicine and 30 of her husband’s sleeping pills with her, but left her glasses and checkbook at home. The case is still a mystery.
