- Details of Disappearance:
- Two expert North American climbers, Leclerc and George Ryan Johnson, went missing on March 5th, 2018, while climbing the Mendenhall Towers near Juneau, Alaska. They successfully climbed a new route and posted about it on Instagram, but they didn’t return as planned on March 7th.
A big snowstorm hit, making the search difficult, and unfortunately, they didn’t have emergency communication devices like satellite phones. Searchers found some of their gear—skis, ropes—but never found the climbers themselves. The search ended on March 14th. Authorities think they fell into a crevasse where some of their ropes were found.
