Details of Disappearance:
On February 14, 1984, a young woman named Andrews went to a party in Chicago with friends. They met Casey Nowicki, a man Andrews didn’t know. After a car accident where Andrews injured her ankle, Nowicki said he’d take her to the hospital but didn’t.

Andrews’s friends tried repeatedly to reach her at Nowicki’s apartment. When they finally spoke to her, she sounded drugged and scared. The friends couldn’t get into the apartment to help her. Nowicki claimed Andrews left, but he wouldn’t let them in.

Andrews disappeared. She left almost all her belongings at home, including her paycheck. This was unusual because she was a responsible person with a good job and was about to move to Kentucky for a new job and college.

Years later, Nowicki was arrested and tried for Andrews’s murder. Witnesses testified that they saw Andrews at Nowicki’s apartment, drugged and possibly assaulted. One witness said he saw Nowicki with Andrews’s dead body. Nowicki was convicted based on witness testimony, although Andrews’s body was never found. The case remains a mystery, but the evidence strongly suggests foul play. Nowicki’s conviction was based largely on the testimony of several people who had their own criminal pasts and received assistance from the prosecution in exchange for their testimony. Nowicki’s lawyers argued that the evidence was weak and there was no proof Andrews was dead.
