- Mayden disappeared from her home in Biloxi, Mississippi on April 30, 1980. Her house showed signs of a fight, with blood that someone tried to clean up. Nothing was missing except her dog, her car, and herself. Her dog was found a few days later, safe and sound, about 15 miles away. Her car was found abandoned at a Holiday Inn in Biloxi; witnesses saw a man parking it there on May 1st. There was blood in the car trunk, suggesting her body might have been there. Police think she was murdered, but no one has ever been charged. Mayden was a competitive golfer and the widow of an Air Force Colonel.
