- Details of Disappearance:
- On September 24, 1999, Lisa Procopio left her job in West Chester, Pennsylvania around 5:10 PM. She told coworkers she had a date. The last time anyone saw her was near a shopping center around 7:00 PM. She never came home.
Her sister reported her missing on October 5th. Two weeks later, her red Pontiac Sunbird was found parked legally in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. The car was clean of fingerprints, but otherwise undisturbed.
After she disappeared, police learned Procopio secretly worked as a dominatrix (“Mistress Maria”), a fact unknown to her family and friends. It’s unclear if this is related to her disappearance.
Her boyfriend, Andrew Thomas, is the main suspect. Procopio’s family said he abused her, and she had reported his criminal activity to the police just days before she vanished. Police found illegal items in Thomas’s apartment. He was convicted of other crimes and later committed suicide in 2012 after killing a police officer. Even then, he claimed he didn’t have anything to do with Procopio’s disappearance.
Procopio was declared legally dead in 2006. Police believe she was murdered.
