- On July 7, 1996, Pacheco was last seen by friends in Ceres, California. Later that day, she went to church and Walmart in her hometown of Modesto. She got home around 11 p.m. and made a phone call. A friend tried to wake her at 4 a.m. for work, but she didn’t answer. Her husband says he saw her at 6:30 a.m. the next day, but this isn’t confirmed. Pacheco never showed up for work at Valley Fresh Inc. in Turlock and never got her last paycheck.
Her red 1987 Hyundai was found abandoned in Modesto, a few blocks from where she was last seen. Her ID was in the car, but she wasn’t. She had four children and had recently separated from her husband. Days before disappearing, she opened a new bank account with cash. She was known for being reliable and wouldn’t usually disappear without telling anyone. The case is still unsolved, and police suspect foul play.
