Details of Disappearance:
Maria disappeared from her home in Norwalk, Connecticut on February 12, 1976. She was 15, a high school freshman, and known for her artistic talents and love of ballet and drama. She missed her afternoon vocal lesson and evening babysitting job.

Her blue bicycle was found abandoned a mile from her house, near a friend’s home, but the friend hadn’t seen her. Maria had taken some clothes and money before leaving, suggesting she might have run away. She’d mentioned running away two weeks earlier, but her father talked her out of it.

However, several people who knew Maria reported seeing her in Norwalk after her disappearance. One sighting was at a restaurant, and another involved a possible connection to a motorcycle club member. A classmate saw someone she thought was Maria at a bar in August 1976, but that sighting was later confirmed to be a different girl.

While it seems Maria may have run away, it’s unusual she never contacted her family. Police investigated, but there’s no proof she was harmed. Maria’s parents have since passed away, but her siblings still hope to find her. The case remains a mystery.
