- Details of Disappearance:
- In November 1977, Susan Watson vanished from Gem County, Idaho. She was fighting to get her two young children back from their foster parents, Michael and Dorothy Rogers, who were trying to adopt them. The Rogers family had changed the kids’ names and told them to call Watson “aunt.”
Dorothy Rogers was the last person to see Watson; she claimed Watson drove away. Watson’s belongings were found at the Rogers’ house, but she was gone. Watson’s parents got custody of the children, believing the Rogerses were responsible for her disappearance.
Things got worse for the Rogers family. Michael was arrested for raping his adopted daughter, and he and Dorothy fled with some of their children, including Watson’s. They were caught in Arkansas. There were also claims of abuse against other children in their care.
Police suspected the Rogerses in Watson’s disappearance, but didn’t have enough proof to charge them. Adding to the strangeness, the Rogers’ son, Ramon, later became a serial killer in California. Police investigated him in connection with Watson’s disappearance, but found no link.
Watson’s case is still unsolved, but investigators believe she was likely abducted.
