Details of Disappearance:
Jackson disappeared from his Fort Lauderdale apartment on June 27, 2004. He’d been out dancing with a friend, John Bass, and returned home around 4:15 am. Bass said he fell asleep and woke up to find Jackson gone, leaving behind most of his belongings (keys, car, phone) but not his wallet or passport. Security footage stopped working an hour after they arrived.

This is suspicious because Jackson was a successful executive, and leaving without his phone was unlike him. Someone accessed his email and voicemail hours later. Police believe he might have left voluntarily but something happened to him soon after. Bass is not a suspect, though they had a complicated relationship. Drugs (GHB and methamphetamine) were found in Jackson’s apartment.

His disappearance mirrors two other unsolved disappearances from the same apartment building in 1988 and several others in the area involving gay men. While there are some similarities (all were gay, left belongings, involved with drugs), there’s no concrete link.

However, Steven Lorenzo, who lived nearby, and his accomplice, Scott Schweikert, were convicted of murdering two other men in the area using GHB (“date rape” drug). Schweikert confessed they targeted gay men, turning them into “sex slaves” before killing or selling them. Though there’s speculation, police haven’t found direct evidence linking Lorenzo to Jackson’s disappearance. Jackson’s case remains unsolved.
