Distinguishing Characteristics:
Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Dark brown hair, green eyes. Gentry has a tattoo of a horse’s head on his upper right arm and a tattoo of a cross and a rose on his upper left arm. One of his upper front teeth was turning black at the time of his disappearance, and another tooth had been pulled and replaced with an implant. He usually has a mustache, and his hair was shoulder-length at the time of his disappearance. His nickname is Marty.
Details of Disappearance:
On July 20, 1986, Gentry left his Sacramento home around 3 p.m. after a phone call from a woman. He said he was going to meet her at a Circle K to buy marijuana, but he never came back. His mom reported him missing six days later. The police already had a tip saying he’d been shot and killed.

Gentry’s best friend, Joseph Stanley, was charged with the murder in 1989. Stanley claimed he was forced to trick Gentry into leaving and then watched someone else shoot him on Prairie City Road. However, Stanley’s girlfriend, Christina Allen (17 at the time), said Stanley told her *he* shot Gentry. Allen initially lied to police because she was scared of Stanley and afraid of getting in trouble herself. She later failed a lie detector test, but eventually admitted what she knew in 1989.

Stanley was tried for murder twice in 1990, but both trials ended without a guilty verdict. The case was dropped, and Gentry’s body was never found.
