- In May 1980, a man named Miller quit his McDonald’s job in West Hartford, Connecticut, and told people he was heading to California. He took all his money from the bank (about $600), rented a car, and drove. But instead of going straight to California, he ended up in Huntsville, Alabama, ten days later. The rental car had gone 1700 miles, showing he took a long and indirect route. Strangely, he left behind a brand new Porsche and another car, plus he gave away his expensive bicycle. Nobody heard from him again. It wasn’t until 1999—almost 20 years later—that anyone reported him missing. Police are still trying to figure out what happened. There’s not much information about his case.
