- Mary Ann disappeared from Chicago on July 15, 1963, after attending a church carnival. Two days later, her parents received a letter from her saying she was okay and would send money, but she wouldn’t say where she was. She hinted at a mysterious “educational experience” and said she might never see them again.
Mary Ann was a good student with a job, and there were no obvious problems in her life before she vanished. After her disappearance, it was discovered she’d joined a traveling magazine sales group heading to California. The group’s leaders gave conflicting stories about what happened to her – one said she left the group, the other said she never left Chicago.
Despite the letter and the leads from the magazine group, Mary Ann was never found, and her disappearance remains a mystery.
