- In 2004, Mary’s mom and stepfather took her away from her home in Whitefield, New Hampshire, even though they weren’t supposed to. They stayed hidden for many years. Then, in 2014, Mary’s mom was found and arrested. But Mary and her stepfather were still missing. Finally, in 2015, they were found in Costa Rica. Mary’s stepfather brought them back to the U.S. and turned himself in. He was arrested, and Mary, now a grown-up, was safe and free to go.
