Details of Disappearance:
Mary Wilcox disappeared from her home in Westford, Vermont on November 9, 2006. She was upset that morning and reported missing later that afternoon. Although she could drive, she didn’t have her license and didn’t take a car. A search found no trace of her.

Her daughter, Jeanne Sevigny, reported her missing a day later, saying she thought Mary could survive outside for a day. Mary had recently left an assisted living facility due to suicidal thoughts and confusion. Jeanne believed Mary ran away because she was considering putting her in a nursing home.

Years later, in 2009, Jeanne was arrested for Mary’s murder. The police believe Jeanne shot her mother, burned the body, and then, with her son Gregory’s help, buried the remains. Gregory’s girlfriend told police about this, fearing for her life after Gregory threatened her.

Jeanne claimed it was an accident; that Mary found her gun and Jeanne accidentally shot her while trying to take it back. However, the police believed Jeanne killed her mother to avoid caring for her. Gregory’s charges were dropped due to the statute of limitations expiring.

Jeanne pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and unlawful disposal of a body, receiving a four to fifteen-year sentence. Mary’s body has never been found.
