Her husband, Guy, reported her missing almost a month later. He said he thought she might have been harmed. Guy had a history of abusing Mary and was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, but he passed a lie detector test and wasn’t charged.

Police also looked into Christopher Below, a man suspected in other disappearances and murders of young women. He was in St. Cloud at the same time Mary vanished, but there’s no proof he was involved. He’s in prison for trying to kill his girlfriend, but her body was never found.

Mary’s family in Pennsylvania, including her parents, children, and ex-husband, noticed something was wrong when she missed her son’s important high school events. She usually called them regularly.

Because of the strange circumstances, police believe something bad happened to Mary.
