- Details of Disappearance:
- Melissa disappeared in El Paso, Texas on March 7, 1987. She went to a convenience store to play video games and never came home. Although she’d run away briefly two weeks earlier, police don’t think she ran away this time.
That same year, several young women disappeared in El Paso; many were found murdered. Melissa is still missing, along with two other girls. Melissa knew one of the murder victims from school.
A serial rapist, David Leonard Wood, was convicted of killing some of these women, but he claims he’s innocent. His death sentence is still being appealed. The killings stopped after his arrest in October 1987. While Wood hasn’t been charged with Melissa’s disappearance, it’s unknown if he was involved. Melissa’s case remains a mystery.
