- On February 13, 2017, a man named Ballard went kayaking in Gloucester, Virginia. He launched his 12-foot green kayak from the Gloucester Point Boat Ramp and was expected home that evening. When he didn’t return, his wife reported him missing the next morning. His car was found at the boat ramp, but his kayak was gone. The police searched the York River, but they couldn’t find him. They believe he likely drowned.
