- Details of Disappearance:
- On June 8, 1987, 18-year-old Michael Adams finished his job at a grocery store in Abilene, Texas. His sister saw him talking to someone in a dark-colored older car (maybe a Monte Carlo, Cutlass, or Toronado) parked outside their home around 11:30 pm. He seemed fine.
The next morning, Adams was gone. His bed was untouched, and his wallet was left on the floor – he’d forgotten it that morning. His car was blocking his parents’ car in the driveway, unusual for him.
Police investigated. Two people Adams knew owned cars like the one seen that night – a coworker and a friend. One passed a lie detector test, the other’s results were unclear. Everyone else Adams knew passed. He had no history of drug use.
Adams was a bright, talented young man – a great student, musician, and artist, planning to go to Texas Tech University soon. He was close to his family and would never disappear like this without a word.
Because he was never found, Adams was declared legally dead in 1994. While police suspect foul play (murder), no one has ever been charged with his disappearance.
