Details of Disappearance:: Chan disappeared from her Fremont, California home on October 9, 1999, while on a walk. This wasn’t the first time she’d vanished; she’d disappeared three times before, but always came back. She was pregnant (due in December) and struggling with depression. One time, in late September, she said she’d slept under a tree near Mission Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway before returning home. When she disappeared in October, her husband reported her missing, but police found no clues. They checked hospitals, but she wasn’t there. The mystery of what happened to Chan remains unsolved.
