- Details of Disappearance:
- On June 3, 1984, Milan Vucurevich Jr., along with his friends Mary Huston and Jim Chouinard, went sailing in Hanalei Bay, Kauai. They were on an 18-foot catamaran, supposedly unsinkable. They never returned.
Despite a large search, the boat and the three friends have never been found. Milan left his wallet, and Jim left his dog behind. All three were strong swimmers and experienced boaters.
The US Navy was conducting missile tests nearby that day, firing missiles at white foam targets similar in size to the catamaran. Milan’s father, a retired Army Colonel, suspects the Navy accidentally hit the boat, as the Navy restricted searchers from a key area. The Navy denies any involvement. Four years later, the Navy *did* accidentally hit a freighter with a missile, resulting in a death.
This incident adds to the mystery surrounding Milan Jr.’s disappearance. His father has tried for years to get answers from the government, but the case remains unsolved.
