Details of Disappearance:
Francheska, 12, and her twin sister Misheila ran away from their home in Paterson, New Jersey on June 9th and July 22nd, 2000, respectively.

Francheska disappeared first. She told her sister she was going to a store but never arrived. Later, she called Misheila, saying she was with friends. That was the last time anyone heard from her. Francheska’s clothes (without her shoes) were found a few days later near her home. She had told friends she might go to a parade in Manhattan and was secretly dating a much older man, which could have been illegal.

Six weeks later, Misheila also disappeared. She left a note blaming their mother for not liking their stepfather and suggesting she was unhappy at home. Their mother denied this.

There are several theories about what happened:

* **They ran away together:** They may have gone to New York City (Brooklyn or the Bronx).
* **Human trafficking:** This is a possibility, given their ages.
* **Involvement of their stepfather:** Their stepfather was later convicted of murder and this has led to suspicion. The girls’ brother also believes one of them might have been pregnant by their stepfather, but this isn’t proven.

The case remains unsolved, and while many authorities consider the girls to be runaways, the circumstances surrounding their disappearances are mysterious and disturbing.
